Health Surveillance
Lung Function Test - For employees who work with substances that are identified as respiratory
sensitisers
Audiometry Testing - For employees who work in noisy environments
Vision Screening - For those employees who require certain standards of vision to carry out
their jobs
Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome - For employees who have been exposed to hand-transmitted
vibration at work

If employers wish we can provide their employees with direct access to the Occupational Health
Service to discuss in confidence any work-related health concerns that they might have.

Raising employees awareness and delivering seminars on issues related to health and work.
Lifestyle Management Programmes
Providing individual employees with a personal profile and advice on how to improve their
lifestyles.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy provides a comprehensive assessment and treatment service. An Occupational
Health Nurse will be the first point of contact and will refer an individual on to a
physiotherapist as appropriate.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists have specific skills in assessing individuals whose ability to perform
their work duties is impaired by illness of injury. The Occupational Therapist works with
other OHSAS professionals in helping to retain employees at work.
The Occupational Therapist uses different evaluations to:

Identify those work duties that can aggravate an existing medical condition

Make practical recommendations for action that will promote a return to work
Ergonomics
OHSAS can offer a wide range of advice on ergonomic interventions in relation to people,
equipment and work systems which can support reducing errors, accidents, injury and health
problems at work.
Manual Handling
OHSAS can provide competent advice on Manual Handling and assist in the implementation of
robust safety management systems to control the risks associated with manual handling. Manual
Handling Advisers provide expert advice, guidance and training and can help establish a
network of Trainers to carry out cascade training.
Procedures are carried out to monitor the health of employees who are exposed to activities or
substances that have the potential to adversely affect their health.
